This Course

This seminar course introduces students to the history of the pinball industry, game design, and the related cultural and artistic aspects of the game in American culture. Students in the course will…

  • take several field trips to The Strong National Museum of Play to look at (and play) some of the pinballs and blueprints items in their collections
  • hear from several guest lectures (some in person, and some via the Internet)
  • watch documentary and entertainment films related to pinball
  • build cardboard and software prototype games and play test them
  • make a final presentation of their pinballs at The Strong during a scouting day on pinball
